Pay Scale

Level-10 in the Pay Matrix (7th CPC)

₹56,100 – ₹1,77,500 per month

Starting basic pay: ₹56,100 + DA (excluding HRA & TA)

Age Limit 

• UR/EWS: Not exceeding 35 years

• OBC: Not exceeding 38 years

• SC/ST: Not exceeding 40 years

• Central/U.T. Govt. Servants: Relaxable up to 5 years

• Other relaxations as per Govt. of India rules

Essential Qualifications

Educational: Degree in Law from a recognized University.

Experience: 7 years’ practice at the Bar in conducting criminal cases.

Relaxations by UPSC:

Qualification may be relaxed for otherwise well-qualified candidates.

Experience requirement may be relaxed for SC/ST candidates if sufficient candidates are not available.

Duties & Responsibilities

A Public Prosecutor (PP) in the CBI will:

•Conduct prosecution of cases allotted by Senior Public Prosecutor.

•Perform duties assigned by Deputy Legal Adviser / Senior Public Prosecutor.

•Maintain records, registers, reports, and returns.

•Submit Court Diaries and keep seniors informed about case developments.

•Provide comments on Final Reports.

•Inspect Malkhana (case property store) if no Senior Public Prosecutor is posted in the branch.
